Srinagar: Contractors have accused the Engineering department of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for allotting the contracts of sewage treatment plant to a favourite contractor, despite three having submitted tenders.
A delegation of contractors told KNS that the Chief Engineer SKIMS had advertised three tenders under NIT No.s 12, 16, 22 at different dates in the months of July, August and October this year for disposal of sewage at the sanitation plant.
The concerned SKIMS authorities cancelled all the three tenders despite three contractors had submitted their tenders for the contract. The authorities cited no reason for the cancellation, the contractors told KNS.
Instead of going through a proper procedure, the contract was allotted to a favourite contractor of the SKIMS. The same contractor is being allotted contracts for the last five years, they claimed.
Chief Engineer SKIMS, Vijay Kumar Raina said that he will look into the issue.
I will look into the issue and if wrong doing is found in allotting the contracts, action will be taken, Raina said. (KNS)
