Srinagar:Former Finance Minister and National Conference senior leader Abdul Rahim Rather Friday said that peanuts announced by present state government for flood victims and traders is an insult to them
Accusing Mufti led State Government of ignoring flood victims on the relief and rehabilitation front, Rather said that whatever the flood-affected people got was before the formation of PDP-BJP Government.
It has become crystal clear now that PDP led government in the state is irresponsible and its approach towards the flood hit people especially traders is callous. This party forced Election Commission of India to conduct elections in the state at a time when National Conference government was busy in providing shelters to roof-less flood hit people, Rather told CNS.
He said that the meager amount announced for flood hit people by Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed has left traders high and dry. This is the same Mufti Sayeed who used to say this is the exchange of ideas, but if your ideas are not in line with theirs, then they won’t let you speak. Now traders and people will protest and this government will get them arrested, he said.
First their Finance Minister claimed that Rs 8000 crore has been set apart for the flood victims and within three days figure change from Rs 8000 to Rs 2000 crore and it speaks volumes how this government is indifferent towards the miseries of the common people of Kashmir Valley, Rather said.
