BARAMULLA: The sound of gunshots and explosions was heard on Tuesday morning in Pathra Bakar area of Bandipore district in north Kashmir.
An official said that the area, along with the nearby Sumlar Gujar Pati forest area, was earlier cordoned off by the army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police.
It was not immediately known if an encounter had erupted between militants and forces as top police officials declined to comment.
