Cause of concern for traders in Apple Town
Srinagar: The recently macadamized road stretches in Sopore of north-Kashmirs Baramulla district are fast withering out allegedly due to the sub-standard material used by the concerned authorities.
With winters around the corner, the Roads and Buildings department have initiated the macadamization process on a wider scale on majority of the road stretches in the valley.
The on-time action of the authorities has received accolades from the public while at the same time the people in Apple town Sopore have alleged the authorities of lackadaisical approach regarding the blacktopping process. The locals have alleged authorities of usage of sub-standard material for the macadamization which has resulted in early dilapidation of roads.
Amid all this chaos the people associated with fruit business are facing the brunt whilst the onset of (business) season. The vital road link to Mandi road which was black-topped is fast losing its shine and is a cause of concern for the fruit growers, the traders alleged.
Talking to GNS, Traders Federation Sopore Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie said that the deterioration of roads has hit the fruit business badly while adding that the authorities need to pay attention towards the use of sub-standard material in macadamization otherwise it will have large impact on the trade activity.
In the meantime, the locals have decried that even after black-topping of majority of the road stretches in the valley, the road leading from Naseem Bagh to Seer Bye-pass is yet to get its share.
