Geelani: ‘Chalo Chalo TRC Chalo’

SRINAGAR: Syed Ali Geelani Saturday convened a meeting of his amalgam Advisory Council (Majlis-e-Shura) urging them to popularize slogan Chalo Chalo TRC Chalo.
The meeting held at veteran leaders Hyderpora residence was attended by the heads or representatives of Democratic Freedom Party, Anjuman-e- Sharie-i-Shiayan, J&K Employees Movement, National Front, Khawateen Kashmir, Insaf Party, Democratic Political Movement, Mass Movement, People’s Political League, People’s Freedom League, People’s League, Tehreek-e-Wahadat-i-Islami, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Tehreek-e-Mazahamat, Muslim League, Kashmir Freedom Front and Islamic Political Party.
The meeting took stock of the preparations of the scheduled “Million March” and all the Hurriyat constituents were directed to suspend their respective party engagements and work for the success of the march.
All the members of the Majlis-e-Shura praised the Million March announcement of Syed Ali Geelani and assured full cooperation in making the march a success.
Terming the “Million March” a historic event, Syed Ali Geelani in his presidential address said that the BJP-PDP coalition government wants to change the discourse of Kashmir issue and they want to mislead the whole world that the situation in Kashmir has changed now.
“In an attempt to become more loyal than the king, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is extending his every possible help to the communal and fascist forces of India.”
Geelani said that the proposed march will be a strong and befitting reply to what he termed as ‘evil and wicked designs’ of Mufti Sayeed and the Sangh Parivar and at the same time it will also be a message to the world that Kashmiri people have not given up their age old demand for plebiscite which NC tried to bury in 1975. The scheduled Million March will make history and will also refresh the memories of the mass gatherings of 2008. Syed Ali Geelani also appealed the Muslims of the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region to send their representatives to Srinagar to participate in the proposed march.
Geelani directed members to launch door to door campaign to explain people about the significance of the march.
The Hurriyat chairman appealed youths to publicize the “Challo, Challo TRC Challo” slogan from now in the form of wall paintings, posters, internet and social networking sites.
Meanwhile a top district administration official said that the Hurriyat has not approached them for holding the march so far. “None of them (Hurriyat) has sought permission till date,” he said.
On its part, Hurriyat (G) is quite hopeful that the PDP-BJP government would allow it to hold march. Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar while confirming that they have not approached the government yet for the permission said: “We are very much hopeful that the government won’t decline the permission”. We have already said that we will take care of the law and order. We know that the government hasn’t allowed these rallies in past but we are very much optimistic this time.”
He said in “one or two days” they will approach government regarding the permission. “This rally would be historical. We have started preparations at all levels and by this rally we will show the world what we want,” he said.
Pertinently, JKLF has also extended support to Geelani’s march.
