SRINAGAR: Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, this evening convened a high level meeting to review the situation obtaining out of the earthquake that jolted the State today.
DG Police, K Rajendra, Principal Secretary, Relief and Rehabilitation, Sandeep Nayak, ADGP, Home Guards and Civil Defence, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IGPs, Kashmir Zone and CID, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Minister was given a brief with regard to post earthquake situation. It was stated that there have been no major loss of life or property except two elderly females from Baramulla and Anantnag districts who had died due to heart attacks following the earthquake. Besides, some people have been reported to have suffered injuries during the earthquake.
It was also informed that damages to residential houses in districts Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag and Shopian have been reported.
At Noorbagh PDD receiving Station, some damages have been reported to transformer due to short-circuit.
The Minister asked all essential services departments to remain alert and be ready to cater to any emergency. He also asked the concerned to remain vigilant and maintained close coordination for immediate rescue and relief, if needed.
