SSP constitutes SIT to investigate the murder
Srinagar: An elderly sikh woman was stabbed to death by unknown persons on Tuesday in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
According to the official sources, the 65-year-old woman identified as Smt. Kundan Kour W/O Late Karan Singh R/O Kanlibagh, Baramulla was found lying on the roadside near JK Bank branch in Kanil Bagh at T P Baramulla in an injured condition.
According to the locals, they spotted the woman lying in a pool of blood and informed the police who immediately reached the spot.
She was removed to the district hospital Baramulla where she later succumbed to her injuries, they said.
Soon after the news, scores of people including Muslims and Sikhs staged massive protests against the incident. The protesters were demanding severe punishment of those involved in the heinous crime.
After conducting all legal formalities including an autopsy of the body at District Hospital in Baramulla, the body of the deceased has been handed over to her relatives for last rites, a police official said.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said prima facie that it is a case of a murder and accordingly a case void FIR No. 182/2015 u/s 307, 302 RPC has been registered in Police Station Baramulla. Further investigation has been taken up.
