SRINAGAR: A youth was injured after an un-exploded tear smoke shell exploded in his hand in district Shopian, a police statement said this evening.
Today after completion of Nimaz-e-Jinazah of slain militants, a group including Adil of Padgampora, Awantipora went violent and started pelting stones at Police Post Imam-sahib and Police Camp Imam-Sahib. Police maintained utmost restraint and tried to pacify the mob, the statement said adding, the mob did not relent and began to barge inside the Police Camp Imam-Sahib.
Police conducted lathi charge and tear smoke was used to disperse the agitated mob.
In this process one un-exploded tear smoke shell was picked up by Adil which exploded in his hand resulting in injuries to his right hand. He was taken to Shopian hospital for treatment wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for further treatment. His condition is stable, the statement added.
