SRINAGAR: Former chief minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah Friday criticized the PDP-BJP coalition government for allowing RSS workers to organize a march in Jammu along with weapons. Ache Din from the Modi-Mufti accord. Srinagar gets curfew & RSS gets permission to march with weapons in Jammu, Omar Abdullah tweeted.
Omar also criticized the state government for imposing curfew in the Srinagar city. On Thursday, to prevent 8th Muharram procession, police had imposed restrictions in the civil lines area and dozens of mourners were detained who tried to take out Muharram procession from Karan Nagar.
On Thursday, RSS workers had organized a rally in Jammu city and other parts of the Jammu province. The RSS workers wearing their traditional gear were seen carrying weapons and swords creating fear among minorities living in the Jammu province. The RSS workers had also raised provocative slogans during their march in presence of police escort.
It is intriguing that Omar had nothing to say about the major contradiction that panned on the day where both Muharram and Dussehra coincided. While the government disallowed Muharram procession, almost the entire government was present to witness the spectacle of Dussehra festival. What would he have done if the coincidence of Muharram and Dussehra fell in his government?
