PULWAMA: Taking cognizance of the news item published in a local English Daily, with the head line Massive Scam in Social Welfare Department Pulwama kids being fed rotten food under ICDS, the District Administration has constituted a team of officers under chairmanship of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Pulwama to conduct an in-depth inquiry into the issue and submit a comprehensive report within two weeks.
Meanwhile, as an immediate measure 63 Aaganwari centers were inspected by Tehsildars today to ensure that no adulterated, expired or substandard eatables are given to children at the centers. Out of these centers, 5 have been closed temporary as a preventive measure.
Also samples of Rajdhani brand of Suji and other such food items have been collected and food safety officer has been asked to refer the same for laboratory analysis.
Tehsildars of the District have been directed to conduct regular inspections of all Aaganwari centers falling within their respective jurisdictions, they have also been asked to take officials of the health and department along, for ascertaining that pure, branded and high quality food items are supplied to such centers.
