SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 23: In order to give latest technological knowhow to farmers of Sub division Baramulla, Department of Agriculture flagged of 50 progressive farmers on a one day inter valley tour under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY).
Farmers were taken to vegetables and other crop research fields at SKUAST- K Shalimar, where they interacted with scientists from the university and were made aware about latest varieties and techniques adopted for production increas.
Later the group was taken to Agriculture Complex, Lalmandi where Director Agriculture, Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi interacted with them. The Director advised farmers to adopt latest techniques as per recommended practices, to use balanced dose of fertilizers and quality certified seeds provided through the Department.
Farmers appreciated the Department for organizing such a tour and requested the Director to increase number of such tours to help enhance awareness among the farming community about the latest techniques and practices. They asked for organizing similar programmes to help farmers gain more knowledge about farmer friendly schemes and latest technologies, required to be adopted to increase production and productivity.
