NEW DELHI: A four-year-old girl suffered severe burns when she was forced to sit on a hot metal playground slide as punishment for wetting herself during class.
According to reports, the slide had been heated up in the scorching heat during midday when the young girls teacher made her sit on the metal slide as a horrific form of punishment.
After school authorities refused to take any action against the teacher, despite complaints from the girls parents, the family of the victim was forced to file a complaint against the school teaching staff in Indias Andhra Pradesh.
Locals joined a protest being led by the victims parents who said, Is it a crime to go to the toilet several times a day? This teacher is too cruel to keep her job if she can inflict such an inhuman punishment on a small girl.
Eventually, following the complaint of the parents, the police filed child cruelty cases against the teacher and the principal.
Meanwhile, rights activist Achut Rao said, Teachers do not have the right training to deal with children and the issues related to them. This teacher isnt qualified to be with the children if she doesnt understand a small issue like this. As a consequence, the Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development Ministry passed orders to shut down the school temporarily.
