Srinagar:– Clashes broke out in Maisuma and Lal chowk areas of Srinagar between youths protesting against thrashing of JKLF chief Yasin Malik and government forces on Tuesday. Malik and several other leaders were allegedly beaten up by CRPF men in Batengoo village of south Kashmir. As the news of Malik’s detention spread, large number of youth took to streets in Maisuma, adjacent to city centre Lal chowk, and pelted stones on forces, who lobbed tear smoke shells to disperse the protestors. The protests later spread to adjacent Lal Chowk with youths pelting stones on forces. Earlier, Several top pro-freedom leaders, including JKLF chief Yasin Malik, were allegedly thrashed by paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men in south Kashmir on Tuesday.
