PULWAMA: A woman, who was allegedly burnt by her in-laws in a village in the neighbouring Kulgam district last week, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Srinagar this morning.
According to the reports, 43-year-old Haneefa Begum, wife of Mohammad Shafi Dar of Damidulla, Yaripora died at the SMHS hospital, Srinagar a week after she was admitted for 80 percent burns, a senior police official said Saturday.
The woman was allegedly facing harassment at the hands of her two sister-in-laws. Both of them identified as Mehfooza and Fancy Jan have been arrested.
SHO Yaripora Mohammad Ashraf told Kashmir observer that both the sisters-in-law of the victim have been arrested and sent to Srinagars Central Jail on judicial remand. He said that a case Fir No 86/2015 under sections 307 and 448A RPC have been registered in this regard. The body of the deceased will be handed over to her legal heirs for last rites after completion of formalities, he added.
