SRINAGAR: A jawan of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) allegedly shot himself dead in Srinagar, official sources said Friday. They said panic gripped ITBP camp last night at Pantha Chowk, about 12 km from here when a firing shot was heard from a barrack.
However, security forces present in the camp rushed to barrack where they found a jawan identified as Rohit in a pool of blood. The injured was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead, they said, adding that the jawan had reportedly committed suicide with his service weapon. It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step. Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings
