SRINAGAR: An encounter between militants and government raged in Dogripora village of Awantipora in south Kashmirs Pulwama district this evening leaving two civilians injured.
Official sourcessaid that the gunfight broke out at around 5:15 PM between militants and forces at Dogripora. The sources said that two local militants were trapped inside a residential house and both are associated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
They said that entire area was cordoned off by Special Operation Group of police and armys 55 Rashtriya Rifles and both sides exchanged gunfire for nearly an hour.
During the gunfight, two civilians including a minor girl sustained injuries and both of them were shifted to hospital for treatment. The two have been identified as 12 year old Iqra and 17 year old Owais. It was not immediately clear whether both of them were hit by bullets or not.
Sources said that the search operation in the area was going on as two militants are believed to have escape from the encounter spot and there was no exchange of fire when reports last came in.
