SRINAGAR: The anti-beef ban bills moved by National Conference MLCs in Legislative Council (LC) could not be introduced as the Chairman Anayat Ali adjourned the House and refused to extend time in view of Friday.
The two NC MLCs Bashir Veeri and Qaiser Jamsheed Lone had moved bills seeking omission of sections of RPC prohibiting slaughter of cow in the State.
However the House Chairman adjourned the House and said that the time could not be extended in view of Friday prayers. The BJP and PDP MLCs also supported the Chairmans decision not to extend the time.
With this, the government successfully managed to kill the anti-beef bills inside the Assembly and Council. The Assembly Speaker Kavindra Gupta yesterday had also cited time constraint, making easy for him to kill the beef bills.
