SRINAGAR: About 2400 bottles of liquor were seized by Excise and Commercial Taxes Department from a vehicle bearing a sticker of On BSF Duty on its front at Lakhanpur Toll Post bordering Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
An official from the department informed that a vehicle (HR61C-3593 approached Toll Post for clearance claiming that the vehicle is carrying house hold goods.
On physical checking 2400 liquor bottles were found in the vehicle that had been hidden in plastic sacks, the official said. The vehicle was bearing a sticker of On BSF Duty.
The liquor, according to the official, had been procured from Haryana and the bottles were not bearing any manufacturing date and batch number.
Two persons including the driver have been arrested who both hail from Haryana. The official identified the arrested smugglers as Driver Ajay Kumar and Sanjay Singh.
