SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Thursday said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police have lost their focus on crime related cases in state.
He was replying to an attention calling notice by NC lawmaker, Ali Muhammad Sagar. Sagar had asked about the course of action in Khanyar domestic violence case in which a mother of two, Mehjabeena, was allegedly burnt down by her in-laws on Eid-al-Azha.
Police are not focusing on such issues which have taken deep roots in our society, Mufti said while discussing the rising domestic violence in state. I have come to know the accused has been released.
The CM said he was surprised, how can it happen? Ordinary persons are arrested without any warrants and the accused in domestic violence is roaming free.
The CM demanded exemplary punishments in such cases. Through due course of law and in least possible time, punishment should be given to accused, CM told amid thumping applause.
