Udhampur:-Internet services were suspended in Jammu region as tension broke out in Udhampur district over reports of cow slaughter at four places on Thursday afternoon. Sources said that people on Chenani-Nashri town woke up in the morning to see carcass of three cows at three places, with their throat apparently slit. This led to protests in the town, with protestors blocking the national highway in the afternoon. As the priests were continuing, there came reports about the carcass of a cow found in the water tank inside a Shiv temple at Garhi
As people started circulating photographs of the carcass of cows on WhatsApp, the State government asked the cellular operators to suspend internet services on mobile phones. This has been done to avoid rumours, said Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal.
