SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 10: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan Wednesday reviewed the ongoing developmental works in tourism sector in Kupwara district.
During the meeting at his office chambers in civil secretariat, the minister directed the officers to expedite the work to complete the projects before working season ends in Kashmir.
During the meeting, the officers gave a detailed presentation of ongoing works. Chief Executive Officer of the Lolab Development Authority informed the minister that about 80 percent of the funds have been utilized and identified a dozen works which are near completion. Minister directed the officers to complete the works within one month.
Officers took up the issues of various projects wherein the projects are on hold owing to forest clearance. Mr Haq Khan asked the higher officers of the department to get the NoC on priority so that the projects are completed within the stipulated time.
Haq Khan while referring to the vast tourism potential of the district, asked secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmad Shah to identify more sites in the district and prepare a comprehensive and workable plan so that Kupwara district emerges on the tourism circuit of the State.
He said the district needs a chain of things vis-à-vis infrastructure development and better road connectivity to exploit various unexplored and hitherto unvisited spots in the district.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, CEO Lolab Development Authority and other officers of the tourism department.
