Srinagar: The state government on Tuesday confirmed conversion of famous Tosamaidan meadow in central Budgam into tourist hub; though formal notification in this regard is yet to be issued.
Yes the government intends to bring Tosmaidan meadow under tourist map, though no formal notification to the effect has been issued, Minister of Tourism in a written response to the question by PDP, MLC Saif-ud-Din Bhat informed the Council.
Pertinently, littered explosives, shells and live ammunition have killed more than 30 people and injured dozens in Tosmaidan during past five years.
The minister also informed that there is no proposal to set up separate Tosmaidan Development Authority (TDA).
There is no proposal to set up separate Tosamaidan Development Authority. However holistic measures will be initiated make it a hub of Tourism Development, the Minister informed.
He said the meadow which was once used as a firing range by army will be now developed as a Golfing and Skiing destination.
Tosamaidan will be developed as a Golfing and Skiing destination while a detailed DPR will be prepared in this regard, he said.
