SRINAGAR: Rajouri district in Pir Panjal region is observing a two days strike against beating of a cop by some local goons.
Reports reaching here said that two days before Eid-ul-Azha a cop was shifting a buffalo for his personal use. But, local goons caught hold of him and bet him to pulp, a local said.
The locals added that when the victim cop approached police, he was again beaten by the policemen. Instead of arresting the accused goons, police trounced on the victim who himself is a cop, the locals alleged.
Against the assault on the cop, Rajouri district is observing a two days strike seeking action against the accused youth.
Sources said that the CAPD Minister, who also hails from the region, had assured the majority community that action would be taken within three days, however, when nothing concrete happened on ground the aggrieved people shut down for two days starting Saturday.
