JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh Thursday reviewed the status of the ongoing process for setting up of temporary campus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Jammu and directed the officers of the concerned departments to expedite the process for making the IIT functional from the next academic session.
Terming it as an ambitious project for the state, the Deputy Chief Minister asked the concerned officers to complete all the requisite formalities for setting up of the IIT including finalization of hostel facility and stay of the faculty members. He directed the officers to visit the site of hostel campus to expedite the process.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Sarita Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Alok Mengi, Principal SPMR College of Commerce Ajeet Angral and other officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Deputy CM also inspected the ongoing works of Convention Centre near the State Guest House.
