He was a good companion: Mufti
SRINAGAR: A day long commemorative function was organized Wednesday at Zadibal on the first death anniversary of former Minister and Shia cleric Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari.
Thousands of devotees participated in the function.
Many clerics from within and outside the state including from Iran attended the function.
Minister for IT, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari who is also President of Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association presided over the function.
MLA Zadibal, Abid Hussain Ansari was also present on the occasion.
The function started with the recitation of holy Quran, and Fateaha for the late leader at Baba- Mazar.
Later, the function continued through the day at Imambara Zadibal in which religious scholars and various other speakers threw light on the life and contribution of the late leader towards the society. They said the leadership qualities of the late leader will prove as torchbearer for the society for a long time.
On the occasion Imran Ansari said that the late leader worked hard for the betterment of people especially the poor during his life. He said Molvi Iftikhar always used to work for communal harmony and brotherhood and had never believed in dissent. He said the mission left halfway by the leader shall be taken forward with utmost struggle.
A blood donation camp was also organized on the occasion in which people donated blood as a mark of respect for the late leader.
Addressing the function Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed said he cherished his friendship with late Maulana Ansari. Ansari Sahib was indeed a true companion who stood with me shoulder-to-shoulder in difficult times, he said, while praising his political acumen that distinguished him from other leaders.
Describing Molvi Iftikhar as a great religious scholar and statesman, the Chief Minister urged the people to fulfil his dream to stay united against forces which divide people in the name of religion. He also highlighted the contribution of the late leader in the expansion of PDP in its formative years and its emergence as a regional force to reckon with.
Mufti Sayeed also assured that his government will fulfil the wish of late Ansari Sahib to carry out the expansion of Imam Bara Zadibal.
