Srinagar: A black bear was killed in Lolab area of north-Kashmirs Kupwara district late Monday night.
Reports said that a bear was hit down by local hunters near forest area of Batnad village in Khurhama late last night.
The bear had mauled to death a teenage girl Zareena Bano daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Khatana of Khurhama on September 14 and had injured scores of locals in recent past and the department concerned was in quest to bring it down and had already issued a permit to the local hunters to kill it, reports said.
A senior official of the wild life department said that the department had already issued a permission to kill the man eater bear.
The bear in the recent past had injured several people besides killing dozens of domestic animals in this particular area, the official said. (GNS)
