Speaker seeks cooperation of all parties for smooth conduct of proceedings
SRINAGAR: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta Tuesday sought cooperation of all the political parties to ensure smooth conduct of the proceedings of the upcoming Assembly Session scheduled to begin on October 03, 2015.
Chairing a meeting of party leaders and chief whips of different political parties here today, Speaker said he hoped that all the Members would utilize the time fixed for session judiciously to highlight issues of public interest.
Minister for Horticulture, Hajj & Auqaf, Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Minister for Science & Technology and Animal Husbandry, Mr. Sajad Gani Lone, besides legislators, Ali Mohammad Sagar (NC), Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen (PDF), Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami CPI (M), Zahoor Ahmed Mir (PDP) and Rajeev Jasrotia (BJP) gave suggestions to make the session result-oriented.
They also suggested increasing time for Business during the course of session. They assured the Speaker of their full cooperation in running the House in a cordial manner.
Responding to suggestions given by the Members with regard to fair reporting during the session, the Speaker said that Information department would request the media persons to be impartial while reporting the proceedings.
He said media has an important role in highlighting public issues and hoped that they shall discharge their duties with utmost care and responsibility.
While discussing the issue of increasing time of Business, the Speaker said that decision in this regard will be taken in Business Advisory Committee meeting. He said that directions have already been given to the Government to ensure presence of officers during Zero Hour.
Secretary, Legislative Assembly Mr. Mohammad Ramzan, Special Secretary, Legislative Assembly, M. R. Singh and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat were present on the occasion.
