Srinagar: In recognition of its growing contribution towards larger social good in the state, J&K Bank was declared winner of Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practices Award in Asia Pacific HRM Congress Awards 2015.
Zonal Head Bangalore Sunil Gupta received the award on behalf of the bank during a gala function held at Taj Vivanta, Yeshwantpur in Bangalore. The theme of the congress was “Building Sustainable HR Practice for Organisational Development.
Commenting on the award, Chairman & CEO Mushtaq Ahmad said, Being a socially conscious institution, the banks CSR plans remain oriented towards helping the weaker sections of society in ways that are effective as well as enduring.
In this regard, we shall continue our engagements with all the communities across the state in an institutional manner thereby striving towards better social well-being in J&K, he added.
During the last financial year the bank contributed around Rs 14 Cr, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), for various projects and activities aimed at the well-being of weaker and vulnerable sections in the state. It includes banks contribution of Rs 5 Cr towards Chief Ministers Flood Relief Fund.
Under its major rehabilitation package, the Bank also donated hundreds of tents to the flood-hit families. Around 23000 kits comprising of blankets, water purifiers, hot water bottles & solar lamps were also distributed among the people.
Notably, the bank was one of the first organizations to facilitate the distribution of food packets and medicines among the flood-hit people at various locations in the state.
