SRINAGAR: In order to offer tourist the best of Kashmiri food, Minister for R&B Syed Altaf Bukhari inaugurated a first of its kind ethnic food restaurant Wazwan at Heemal hotel of JKTDC, situated on the famous Boulevard road here.
Minister of State for Power, H&UD and I&C, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, MLC Khurshid Alam, Secretary Tourism, Farooq Ahmed Shah and other officers were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bukhari said that flourishing of tourism sector is vital for the States economy and Government has given special focus to develop the necessary infrastructure and create facilities for the tourists offering them best services.
He said JKTDC over the years has amply demonstrated its potential to host large number of tourists across the State offering them best facilities at reasonable prices. He said Government has taken up the upgradation works on hotels, huts and restaurants including the infrastructure available with JKTDC.
Mohammad Ashraf Mir speaking at the function underscored the need to create necessary facilities to accommodate all the tourists visiting the State at present and in coming years also.
MLC, Khurshid Alam called for concerted efforts to promote tourism activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is a global brand, however, all stakeholders need to work in unison to promote its unique tourism potential, he said.
Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmed Shah highlighted the various initiatives taken by the department in offering various services to the visiting tourists. He said a Chinese food restaurant has also been started in Nunkun for those who like Chinese cuisine.
