SRINAGAR: National Conference senior leader and MLC, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Monday, submitted a resolution for upcoming session in October, seeking amendments to Ranbir Penal Code on the beef ban issue and ban on manufacture and sale of liquor in J&K state.
This House resolves that the manufacturing and sale on liquor be banned in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Bill: A Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir Ranbir Penal Code Svt. 1989 (1931.A.D) by omitting Section 298-A, 298-B, 298-C and 298-D, the Resolution according to local news agency,CNS, reads.
Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and traditionally people have been sacrificing cattle on occasion of Eid ul Azha, Lone said.
It becomes obligatory to make amendments in laws which risk peace and harmony of state.
