Its revival of 1846 Treaty of Amritsar: Hakim Yasin
JAMMU: Senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Vikramaditya Singh Monday demanded that Dogra certificates must be issued to Jammu youth as it is their birth right. He said that Dogra certificate would facilitate recruitment of unemployed Jammu youth in the Armed forces.
Dogras are well known for their courtly manners, great courage and strong powers of physical endurance and these qualities of Jammu youth make them highly desirable recruits for the Armed Forces, he said.
Singh said that he fully agreed and supported the views of Minister of State (MoS) Dr. Jitender Singhs move to restore Dogra certificates for Jammu youth.
Dogra certificate allows the youth certain relaxation in recruitment norms. This has been a long standing demand by the Dogras of Jammu.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and Awami Muthida Mahaz (AMM) leader Hakim Mohammad Yasin Monday equated rising of Dogra Certificate issue by the coalition partner BJP with revival of 1846 Treaty of Amritsar.
This coalition (PDP-BJP) is only creating controversies, Yasin said. First it was the State Subject issue, then came separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits and then West Pakistan refugees and so on.
