Srinagar: Rejecting the recent statement of Indian representative at the UN that J&K is an integral part of India because of the so called elections held here, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that these so called election have no bearing on the disputed nature of the state as is clearly stated by the UN resolutions on the Kashmir dispute.
A spokesman of the amalgam said that these resolutions clearly state that elections held for administrative purposes are in no way an alternative to the right of self determination of the people of J&K. So India’s effort to mislead the world community and contest the disputed status would not work.
While addressing before Friday congregation prayers at historic Jamia Masjid, APHC Chairman stated that Hurriyat has time and again reiterated that Kashmir dispute can be solved either by implementing UN resolutions or through tripartite dialogue involving all the three stakeholders India, Pakistan and the main party, the people of Kashmir, the spokesman said.
Mirwaiz said the issue is as alive today as it was in 1947. He stated that Kashmiris were the primary party to the dispute and no process for its resolution will bear fruit without their inclusion.
