SHOPIAN: The residents of Imamsahib and its adjoining areas staged the massive protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for their apathy towards providing smooth services to their area.
The protests blocked Shopian – Bijbehara Road for hours alleging that since last several days we have been plunged into darkness and the concerned authority has been unmoved to our plight despite repeated requests.
Tehsildar Imamsahib, Niyaaz Ahmad Bhat, rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. The executive engineer also instructed his officers to visit the spot to fix the fault.
Due to the overload people are facing the inconvenience, Assistant Executive Engineer, Bashir Ahmad, told Kashmir Observer. There is only one receiving station in the entire area and it has been supplying power to six feeders catering to 70 plus villages in each feeder.
