SRINAGAR: Noted scholar and former Head of Kashmir Universitys Sociology Department, Prof Bashir Ahmad Dabla, passed away on Wednesday.
Born on 9th July 1954, Prof Dabla did his PG, M.Phil and Ph.D from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi after completing his BA from the University of Kashmir.
A scholar of international repute, Prof Dabla had been a visiting fellow to several universities in India and abroad and had a number of books and research papers to his credit. He was a member on various boards/committees in various universities, including the Academic Council of the University of Kashmir.
KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, condoled the demise of Prof Dabla. He described him as an erudite scholar whose contribution to the growth and development of the university in general and the department of Sociology in particular shall always be recalled and remembered. On behalf of the University and on my own behalf, I convey my condolences to the bereaved family and pray for eternal peace to the departed soul, the Vice-Chancellor said in his condolence message.
