Srinagar: After manhandling a senior Forest Official on Tuesday, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Wednesday suspended him sparking a protest against the DFO in North Kashmirs Bandipora district.
According to forest employees, the DFO Bandipora Tuesday had manhandled and abused Forest Officer Muhammad Akbar Parrey when he was busy in cutting down hollow trees at Mukhdamyari Hajin Belt of Sumbal Sonawari. The employees who had resented the action of DFO had alleged that it has become a routine for the DFO to abuse the employees on the one or the other pretext.
Yes, I was manhandled and abused by DFO and today I received suspension order. I fail to understand what was my fault, Parrey told CNS.
Forest Minister Bali Bhagat told CNS that forest employees have already brought manhandling issue into his notice. How can he (DFO) suspend an employee without any enquiry? I will personally look into the matter, he said.
Meanwhile, the forest employees of Bandipora Range have called for a protest against the suspension order on Thursday.(CNS)
