Srinagar: A day after re-arresting separatist hardliner Masarat Alam under the Public Safety Act, the Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday obtained seven days remand for his custodial interrogation from the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in a case of sedition registered in 2012. Granting seven days remand to the police, CJM Suneet Gupta observed the CD file reveals that Masarat Alam has been taken into custody by the police on suspicion of his involvement in a case registered as FIR No. 3 of 2012 at police station, Joint Interrogation Centre under various provisions of Ranbir Penal Code and Enemy Agents Ordinance. To get evidence against the accused, the investigating officer has sought some time for his custodial interrogation, the judge pointed out. Agreeing to the request of the IO, the judge granted seven days police remand of Masarat Alam, with the direction to produce him before court after the expiry of the remand period. The judge also directed the police to intimate accuseds close relatives about his arrest and also get him medically examined after every 48 hours.
