PULWAMA: Students mostly females of Government Higher Secondary School, Rohumu, Pulwama, staged a demonstration to protest against the alleged lack of basic facilities including the scarcity of water in the school washrooms and lavatories.
They came out the school premises in large numbers and staged a sit-in causing roadblocks at many places. They were agitated about the lack of basic necessities like newspapers, playground, sports equipment, cleaning staff etc in the school.
The students rued that they had earlier apprised the authorities about their grievances but no action has been taken in this regard. Washrooms and lavatories are without water causing many difficulties to us, a female student said. Water tank in the school is dysfunctional and the supply line to it is blocked.
SHO Rajpora Sajad Ahmed assured the students of all possible help after which the students dispersed peacefully.
Meanwhile, Executive Engineer PHE Shakil Ahmed Beigh said that the water tank will be repaired and water to it will be supplied to a new line.
