SHOPIAN: People of Chitragam Shopian staged a massive protest against Public Health Engineering department as the village is reportedly facing an acute shortage of drinking water.
The agitated protestors blocked the Bijbehara Shopian Road for hours alleging the water supply in their area is not sufficient for the past few days leading to hardships.
SHO Zainapora Yasir Ahmad Bhat rushed to the spot and assured the protesters that their grievances will be taken up with the senior officers of PHE Department.
Meanwhile, residents of Imamsahib and Nagbal alleged that there is an acute shortage of drinking water for the past few days.
Dobipora and Badigam residents say that water being supplied to them was unsafe.
An official of the PHE department told Kashmir Observer that the construction work of Mughal Road has damaged the pipelines and repair work was underway to fix the problem.
