Officer manhandled, choicest invectives hurled upon
SRINAGAR: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday accused police of manhandling and abusing one of its top officers in Srinagar on Sunday evening.
An official from CBI informed that a couple of police constables from police station Pantachowk not only tried to manhandle DySP S.K.Sharma but also hurled choices invectives on him.
Our vehicle BL10-CS-5965 was caught in a traffic jam on Sunday evening near Pantachowk crossing. Two to three police constables, who were hitting all the stranded vehicles with lathis to pave way for some VIP, also hit our vehicle. When our DySP objected their action, they tried to drag him out from the vehicle and one of them hurled choicest abuses upon him We are aghast and our heads went down with shame after seeing our officer being humiliated, said an employee of CBI who according to him was present in the vehicle during the time of incident.
I failed to understand why these policemen damage vehicles without any provocation. Their behavior was unacceptable as they treat people as cattle in Kashmir, an apparently humiliated officer said.
When contacted a top police official said that he would look into the matter. It has not come to my knowledge and I dont know whether this incident has really occurred or not, still I will find out, he said.
