NEW DELHI: Senior IAS officer Rajiv Mehrishi was appointed as Union home secretary in place of incumbent L C Goyal, who sought voluntary retirement after taking over the charge seven months ago.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Rajiv Mehrishi, IAS (1978) Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance as Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs for a period of two years with effect from today, an official spokesman said. The Prime Minister has also approved the request of Goyal, IAS (1979) seeking voluntary retirement from Government service due to personal reasons with immediate effect, it said.
