SRINAGAR: The tourism-related bodies including the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) in an emergency meeting Friday took a serious note over the Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabus utterances at the PHD Chamber Global Conclave on Thursday in which he had reportedly portrayed Kashmir tourism in the bad light.
The trade bodies while explaining why a slump in the tourist inflow happened this year as compared to 2014 flayed Indian media for allegedly portraying Kashmir in negative light. The Indian media blew things out of proportion that vitiated the atmosphere here creating a skeptical environment, said an official at the KCCI. The hype resulted in a drastic drop in the tourist inflow this season. At no point, security is the reason of poor arrivals. It needs to be appreciated that the Yatra has been most peaceful this year.
The bodies have decided to meet the Chief Minister to express their resentment over Drabus statement.
