SRINAGAR: Prof Amitabh Mattoo today assumed office as Advisor to the J&K Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr B B Vyas, Director General Information, Mr Zaffar Ahmad Bhat and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
Born on 26 June 1962 in Srinagar, Prof Mattoo is one of India’s leading thinkers and writers on international relations.
He has been the Chief Executive Officer and inaugural Director of the Australia India Institute and Professor of International Relations at the University of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
He has also served as the Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University and Professor of Disarmament Studies at the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Mattoo has been a Member of the National Knowledge Commission, a high-level advisory group to the Prime Minister.
Mattoo is also President of the Indian Association of International Studies.
