JAMMU-Project Director AIDS control society J&K today denied the figure report published in the local leading newspapers regarding the prevalence of HIV.
The HIV prevalence in J&K is 0.08% and not 8% or 0.8 % as reported. Moreover there is a difference between being HIV positive and being an AIDS patient. The 4500 cases reported in J&K are of HIV detection which are also known as HIV positive cases and not all of these become AIDS patients.
