Srinagar: University of Kashmir today felicitated Prof Shakeel A Romshoo, Head of the Earth Sciences Department, for bagging the National Geoscience Award in April this year.
At a function in the campus, KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, presented a shawl to Prof Romshoo as a token of appreciation in recognition to his contributions in the fields of Remote Sensing and Geosciences.
This is a modest function held to felicitate Prof Romshoo for bringing laurels to the University, he said. This function is our endeavor to develop the culture of appreciation wherein we, as a society, recognize each others success.
Prof Romshoo got the award from the President Pranab Mukherjee in recognition of the significant contribution made him in the applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in Earth and Environmental Sciences.
The award carried a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, certificate, citation and a trophy presented to Prof Romshoo by the President at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, on April 6.
