Srinagar: Government forces on Saturday claimed to have defused two explosive devices at two separate places in south Kashmir.
According to GNS correspondent, the forces said that an army patrol while patrolling at Mahipora village detected some explosives kept in polythene and it turned out be IED. They said that the army immediately summoned Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
A team of BDS reached on the spot and defused the IED, a police official said, adding: had it exploded, it would have created havoc since a school is located nearby. (GNS)
Similarly, a police party, Shopian received an information about some suspicious object which was lying near Nala at village Dunbwani, Senior Superintendent of Police Altaf Khan told GNS.
Following the information, a police party was immediately rushed to the spot along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) who immediately detected the explosive device which was kept inside a polythene bag.
The sleuths BDS later defused the device without causing any damage, he said.
He said that the timely action by police averted what could have been a major tragedy.
