Srinagar: Two teachers were killed and eight others injured when a picnic bound vehicle of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) met with an accident in central Kashmirs Budgam district on Saturday evening.
A police official said that the mishap involved the staff members of DIET Pampore who had gone on picnic to Dodhpathri in Budgam district.
He said that they were travelling in an LP vehicle bearing registration number JK01N 5926 which skidded off the road near Tangnaar. The vehicle fell into a 20 feet deep gorge.
The police official said that as a result, two persons identified as Aliya Muzzafar, wife of Muzafar Ahmad, resident of Wanbal Rawalpora and Bashir Ahmad Mir, son of Khizr Muhammad resident of Sathpakran Khrew died on the spot.
Besides, eight persons sustained injuries and they were immediately rushed to hospital.
The official said that the four out of eight injured persons were referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case and started further investigations in this regard.
