Scamster enjoying varsity protection; sending him on leave a joke.
RAJOURI: Demanding ouster of an official allegedly involved in scholarship scheme, nocturnal protests continue to rock Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) where students are on boycott for the past 12 days.
The students resorted to high pitched sloganeering after University authorities closed the gates of the hostel and didnt allow male and even female students to enter their rooms.
Sensing trouble, Deputy Commissioner, Dipti Upal, rushed to the spot and interacted with the protesting students.
The students have vowed to continue the boycott of the classes until the tainted office was removed.
DC Rajouri gave us a patient hearing, one of the protesting student said. At first, she ensured action will be taken against the corrupt officials, however, she changed her mind after meeting the varsity officials and termed our strike unjustified.
They alleged a police official threatened them of dire consequences if they did not end their strike. I will book you in criminal cases and nobody will come to know about it, the protesting students quoting the police official as having said.
The Registrar BGSBU is the mastermind behind the scholarship scam, said a student. University authorities know it well and to hoodwink us, they want to send him on leave for 15 days. This is a big joke and we are not going to call off our strike till he (Registrar) is not removed.
A University top official who wished not to be named said that they have been waiting for the SIT report. Once it is established that any University official has a role in the scam, he will be taken to task. The scam is being investigated by Special Investigating Team and the University has not received the report so far, he said adding that University is ready to send Registrar on leave till SIT submits its report.
