SRINAGAR: The residents of Malla Bagh area of Hazratbal in city outskirts on Wednesday observed 3 hour long shutdown and staged anti-government protest over non-fulfillment of their demands.
The protest was held under the banner of Social Welfare Committee and rally to press their long pending demands was taken out. The residents threatened to go for longer strike if government failed to resolve our issues.
The protestors demanded road widening from 90ft Illahi Bagh to Habak, Naseem Bagh to overcome the daily traffic mess, equal power supply to all areas, conversion of CRPF camp into Children Hospital, Tehsil office which has been shifted to Eidgah almost 12 kilometers away.
They also demanded single SMC ward, single ZEO zone, single police station, conversion on marriage hall into dispensary or Tehsil office and restoration of channel/ drainage.
