SRINAGAR: Even after the expiry of five months, the landslide victims from Laden village in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district have not received any aid from the state government.
The affected families while ruing their fate Wednesday staged a protest in Press Enclave Srinagar accusing the government of ignoring them despite the promise that they would be rehabilitated without any delay.
Laden village in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district witnessed a tragedy on 31 March this year when at least sixteen members of two families were killed in a major landslide.
The protesters from Wani Mohalla, Hajam Mohalla and Kumar Mohalla of Laden village expressed resentment against the ‘lackadaisical’ attitude of the authorities and said that government has neither provided them any kind of relief nor shifted them to safer places. “We have been homeless and have been spending days and nights in tents at a government school ever since.
