JAMMU: Army Tuesday handed over a suspect to police accusing him of helping Pakistani Rangers shelling in Jammu.
Reports said that during night patrolling in Hamirpur area, a company of Rashtriya Rifles apprehended a man who was moving in the area. The suspected person was taken to nearby camp and after questioning was handed over to police.
An army official while identifying the arrested man as Liyaqat Hussain of 156 Territorial Army said that a wireless set has been recovered from his possession. The jawan was disembodied from the Army in year 2011 and there are doubts that he might have been guiding and aiding Pakistani shelling in Jammu region, he said.
From past few days, Jammu region along the Line of Control has been witnessing heavy firing and shelling that claimed over six lives.
